Let Breast Cancer Awareness Month Inspire You to Obtain Life Insurance

At Curtis Helms Insurance, October is a significant month for us because it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One of the key insurance professionals at our firm and the youngest son of our founder, Chris, was personally impacted by breast cancer when his wife was diagnosed with the disease in 2014. After a long and difficult journey, she eventually lost her battle to cancer in 2018.

Life Insurance

In light of this tragedy, we want to help other families prepare for difficult events similar to this by updating their life insurance plan or acquiring a policy. In its most basic form, life insurance can provide funding to your loved ones if you were to pass away to help them cover the cost of the funeral, pay off debts, and maintain their standard of living.

In addition to ensuring you have the right life insurance policy, we also suggest that you take the following preventative measures to reduce your risk of breast cancer development:

  • Limit alcohol and avoid smoking.
  • Control your weight and commit to being physically active.
  • Avoid exposure to environmental pollution and radiation.
  • Limit the dose and duration of hormone therapy.

You should also be vigilant about breast cancer detection. Consult your doctor about any changes in your breasts, such as skin changes or new lumps, and inquire about mammograms and screenings based on your personal history.

Our focus is on doing what is best for all our clients, and this month as we focus on Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we hope you will take these steps to protect yourself and your family. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call.
